  • Had at Paris House, with seafood pot au feu. Nice buttery, spicy nose, peaches, baked apples. Palate had pineapple and good acidity with some mineral notes. Finish had some tropical fruit but was rather short. Went really well with the dish. Restaurant Manager Guillaume to be thanked for matching the wines with the dishes so skilfully.

  • One month later than the previous bottle, the rawness trace has all but disappeared. Lovely mineral P-F.

  • This is a very refreshing young medium bodied Pouilly-Fuissé with fresh white and citrus fruit, a creamy touch, flinty mineral and lively acidity. Unsurprisingly at about its first birthday there were still traces of rawness but, as usual, Touraine goat cheese worked its miracle and effaced these and improved focus. I disagree with Callum about QPR. Around €10 is an almost unprecedented good price for P-F and to say that equally good Graves or Loire whites (which ones?) can be had for less is comparing apples and pears. Good and should improve.

  • Bought for 10.00 euros Intermarche supermarket, Flers, France September 2015.

First impression in mouth is lovely ripe creamy peaches, nice Chardonnay. Not many earthy mineral flavours here. Great fruit, though: white peach, a hint of lemon too. Very little oak, thank goodness. A dry/almost dry finish, some nice essence and power at the end, good length. Good wine, well made.

Value for money? Not sure it is, if I'm honest. It's 10.00 euros, which in terms of supermarket wine in France is not cheap, and I have had several white wines for half the price that have been easily as good. Burgundy whites tend to be pricey, and I have decided this, although well made, is not good value-for-money when you compare it to 2014s from Graves or Blaye and the Loire and Alsace, all of which in 2014 had very good vintages.
