George Hendry is probably better known for his big zinfandels. However, this claret sure is a nice surprise and a lot of fun to drink. The blend is 26% Petit Verdot, 26% Malbec, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Cabernet Franc and 9% Merlot, and was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, approximately 70% of which were new.
Decanted thirty minutes. Dark purple in the glass, with nice aromas of ripe berry fruit, chocolate, and dried violets. On the palate, a concentrated band of spicy currant, plum, and blackberry fruit come in, with cocoa-laced oak on the finish. A touch of heat and big tannins show. 14.4% alcohol.

Very nice claret--the rich, buttery texture is complemented nicely by smooth, well incorporated tannins. Slightly unusual blend--consists predominantly of petit verdot and malbec. This wine is currently drinking nicely.

With Val, Kevin and Devin at Bobo's. This wine was great for the evening, excellent complement to the meal and a long night out. Each drink was enjoyable. Light tannins and fruit allowing the food to speak for itself. Color – Medium red Appearance – very clear Aroma – Mild red fruit, a little cool and soft Body – smooth with low acid Taste – Dry, smooth and medium with plum fruit Textures – soft Finish - light red fruit and very clean with the acid and a little spice to finish
