From memory. Medium ruby color. The nose and palate were a bit muted as if this might have closed down a bit. The palate displayed a single note of red cherry, but little else. There was excellent acidity to provide some excitement to this medium-bodied wine, and the silky mouthfeel was lovely. Overall, I expected a more outgoing wine but received something that, while quite drinkable, did not reflect its price tag.

Its the best Sangiovese I've ever had from CA. Sour cherry and tannic, and pairs beautifully with southern Italian food. Just starting to hit its stride

Decanted 90 min. Drank over 90 min. On open, bitter sour, settled down with air. Last glasses were nice and smooth. Sour cherries, some residual oak. Good light red wine, great with a chicken gravy over cauliflower rice. Needs 1-2 yrs in cellar.

I was concerned this would be past it’s prime but this bottle was not. Classic GV Aprile. Wish I had a few more.
