Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 92.1 pts. and median of 93 pts. in 8 notes)

Tasted by Tartiflette on 12/9/2009 & rated 89 points: Strong nose of strawberry, licorice, black currant and earth. Lots of tannins (too much for pleasure) but looking forward to follow this one. Decant if you have to try now. Good potential (195 views)
Tasted by goofy Yno on 9/7/2009 & rated 92 points: nose of cherry, rose and rhubarb. nice mouth with good balance, nice fruit. drinking nicely after 2 hour decant (443 views)
Tasted by futronic on 12/6/2008 & rated 93 points: 5th Annual Truffle Dinner (Home, Toronto, Canada): Dark ruby colour. Gorgeous nose of strawberry, mint, spice, tar, licorice, black plums, earth. Full-bodied, great grip and structure. Black plums, spice, earth, tea, and tar on the palate. Long finish, ~45s, with dark fruit and spice notes. Excellent again from Cigliutti! Decanted for a couple hours, I am really looking forward to following this wine over the next 5-8 years. Really delicious stuff. (443 views)
Tasted by goofy Yno on 9/7/2008 & rated 91 points: nice nebbiolo nose of earth, flowers, licorice and cherry. nice mouth with good balance in not alittle acidic and a little tanic (but par for a barbaresco). some complexity and a nice deep cherry finish. (628 views)
Tasted by alion on 5/11/2008: Dark cherry and tar. Farmyard. Complex. Wish I had more of this vintage. Outstanding. (769 views)
Tasted by egh on 5/10/2008 & rated 93 points: Decanted for 30 minutes and consumed over the course of two hours. A nervy, moderately tannic, complex, beautiful, and haunting effort with notes of violets, sweet tobacco/spice box, black fruits (currants, plums, figs, and cherries), and a hint of tar/asphalt. A wine that is at once powerful yet graceful. Highly recommended. Purchased off the list at D'Amico Cucina. (749 views)
Tasted by repoper on 4/5/2005 & rated 93 points: I tried one bottle because of ST review. One of the best young barbarescos which I have tried in quite some time. It has all the right stuff for a nebilo based wine and should evolve beautifully over the next 10-20 years. Really great. (1527 views)
Tasted by MartinP on 8/13/2004 & rated 94 points: Dark ruby colour, more deep than "normal" nebbiolos but still rather transparent. Excellent nose, getting better as time is spent in the glass. "Warm" feel, leather, dark cherries, gunpowder, pepper, really beautiful and forceful. On the palate a almost perfect combination of sweet mature nebbiolo, more cherries, tobacco and all very well integrated with ripe tannins that will ensure this beauty a long life. Loads of complexity and only more to come.... Drink 2010 or decant! (1670 views)
