On the decline. A mouthful of black cherries, black liquorice strap, cassis and dark plums. Short length and no tannins. I can understand the style, but it isn't one for me.

Opened for an hour, this was great! I'd put this against a $60-80 Shiraz any day. It was fruit-forward, but not ridiculous, the mouthfeel was full but not tannic, and the finish intensified. Really, really nice wine for $30. I sure wish I had more.

MNB: Australian Reds (Home (Noe st)): (blind) Deep ruby-purple color. Ripe blackberry with strong smoked ham - reduction. Mocha - some new oak impact. Slight RS - maybe 2-4g. 14.5% alcohol (correct), medium acid, medium tannins (plush), medium plus finish - dense and sweet with mocha notes (40% new French oak).
Well-integrated, higher-priced Aussie shiraz, $25. Much heftier and sweeter and texturally weightier than the Qupe.
2016 Barossa Shiraz
Actually 2014 Torbreck Woodcutter's shiraz This is pretty restrained alcohol for Torbreck. A great value at $15-20, and a great example of how intense Aussie shiraz is.

PnP, with the nose showing promising aromas of blackberry, red meat, and pepper. Ripe dark berry and vanilla take over on the palate, with peripheral flavors of peppered beef jerky and an herbal note providing lift in the background.

Lots of dank mocha on the nose with a touch of menthol lift. Dull, jammy fruit without much weight or snap. Hard to believe so many professional reviewers consider this a 90+ wine.
