≈50 min decant into a cylindrical plastic pitcher which was then capped; Noticed a BIT of sediment; Private Preserve after Day 1
N: Red rasps with notes of blk cherries, poss hints of roses?
P: Med body; RNDISH entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by an astringent pucker which pretty much works itself out by the LONG, very, VERY slightly tangy finish with an intriguing bitter/swtness to the otherwise unoffensively firming, VERY fine tannins. Went nicely with the revisited Chx (SP) with Rice. A somewhat better bottle than others of recent, or just a better match? My EXC-/EXC, & should hold into '23. // Day 2: N equally attractive as on Day 1, the red rasps poss a bit more assertive; P has held VERY well, QUITE surprising me with HOW well it accompanied 2 of our staples: Grilled Tilapia & TJ's Mushroom Risotto, though the relatives weren't AS fond of it with their Grilled Salmon. Upping my score to EXC (92,93 /100 using that metric), particularly given the QPR of the $31.95 pd for it in Oct '17. [As of early Sep '20, wine-searcher shows no available sources for this vintage].

Bottle over NDP dinner at Hertford. Cork closure. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of red cherries, black cherries, dark boysenberries, light brambles, integrated toast oak. Developed. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), medium- tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of dark red cherries, black cherries, dark boysenberries, brambly spice, cola. Medium+ finish. Very good quality. Showing the Central Otago terroir, framed with good freshness and elegance. 15% whole bunches used. Good time to drink already. Made by Ted Lemon from Littorai. From three vineyards: the estate vineyard in the Cromwell Basin, Northburn Vineyard on the other side of Lake Dunstan and Cox vineyard in the Gibbston region.

≈45 min decant into a cylindrical plastic pitcher which was then capped; Noticed a BIT of sediment; Slightly chilled on Day 1 because of warm ambient temp; Private Preserve after Day 1
N: Slightly closed; Earth atop blk cherries; Cherry cola as it warms?
P: LM body; Rndish entry with NICE, almost swtish frt met by an astringent pucker which fairly seamlessly morphs into a LONG finish with a tanginess to the very, VERY fine tannins. Given the acidity of this™, I'm thinking it can still be consumed through '23? My EXC-, it going acceptably with the night's Mixed Mandarin/Szechuan TakeOut. Day 2 (room temp): Held a bit < than expected, tonight the aromas being ahead of the P. ∑: Drink now through '22. 93 pts ea The Wine Front (Gary Walsh), Bob Campbell, & Int'l Wine Report, 92 WS, 91 Burghound, 90+ WA, 85 Vinous (Martin), and 16.5 (2x) & 17/20 Jancis Robinson. ™In retrospect, I suspect the acidity was exacerbated by the chill.

P: Med body; RNDISH entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by an astringent pucker which stays within hailing distance of the init frt as it fairly seamlessly works its way into & through the LONG, balanced finish with an attractive tangy/swtness (60:40) to the firming, but unoffensive, dusty tannins. Probably went as well as anything with a Corned Beef & Cabbage with Mashed Potatoes MRE (COSTCO). For now & through '21, poss even '22. // Day 2: Held up, if anything, BETTER than expected. ∑: A solid EXC-; 93 pts ea The Wine Front (Gary Walsh), Bob Campbell, & Int'l Wine Report, 92 WS, 91 Burghound, 90+ WA, 85 Vinous (Martin), and 16.5 (2x) & 17/20 Jancis Robinson.
