  • Great bottle of wine, not really "big n bold" cali cab, but lots of great fruit. Nose is slightly more fruity than the palate, the palate is full of crushed stone and black fruit. Picking up a littel lead? Well balanced, if not missing a mid palate a little. Not a short finish, but enough to make me want more. Overall a great (on the good/great/exceptional scale). And NO, I repeat NO sediment. Kinda wierd for a 10 year old cab.

  • Purchased this from the winery's library last week. The bottle was in great condition. At first the bottle seemed a little weak. The fruit was very good, but it lacked a mid palate. I guess I might have been expecting more structure. Given that it was in the barrel for 30 months I guess I also expected more oak, but that really wasn't there. As the bottle opened over time it did pick up some, but never really got to a "big, bold cab". Sorta reminded me of a '94 Spoteswood I had a few months ago. A good wine, but great? Purchased it (and 2 other bottles) as an experiment on how Vincent's "Winemaker Reserves" age. I had read that some people like to drink them young, more fruit. Could be something here, or could have been an off bottle. I have gotten more structure out of his normal cabs, both young and old. But the fruit was probably better here. Will have to try more to see.
