Very striking when opened but faded fairly quickly, losing its exuberance and distinctive Coche character. Attractively oily and lots of tangerine to begin then fizzled out to simple lemon. Seems almost mature yet should be ascending. Very puzzling.

Early dinner gathering (Capital Grille, DC): Classic Coche nose displaying perfectly ripe white and yellow fruits, pear, apple, coconut, flint, spicy and sweet spices, a hint of oak, cool mountain stream and limestone. Excellent concentration, layers upon layers of opulent white fruit with a hint of yellow, rich and oily but also cool and fluid, bright acidity, strong limestone mineral, and a long opulent white fruit driven finish with coconut and flint at the end. It displays exceptional concentration/fruit density as well as really pleasing Coche style, i.e. luxurious yet discreet use of oak, flint and opulent fruit. I hope other domaines can emulate the style.

Another in a recent string of insanely good Coche '14s. Exuberant fruit that reminds me of Juicy Fruit gum (and I mean that in a good way). So fun to drink but at the same time there is serious underlying structure. Delicious.

Some More Wine with Meals in Burgundy and Northern Rhone; 4/9/2019-4/17/2019 (France): Served alongside Rougeots. Vibrant and fully engaging in all senses. Powerful yet lithe, this is barely approachable, but just teasing us with its great potential.
