Quick note from a friends 50th bday party. In a sea of over 100 wines this really stood out. Mature fruit notes, cigar box, autumn leaves, grainy tannins and a long finish. Amazing wine and only had a small pour.
From a bottle purchased upon release and cellared in pristine fashion, this deep-to-opaque red/garnet wine was decanted off its sediment and allowed three hours of aeration prior to serving. Beautiful black and red fruit aromas are accented with anise, allspice, sage and chocolate. Full-bodied, freshly acidic and with well-integrated alcohol (listed as 13.6%), it delivers flavors which mirror the nose. Although substantial, the wine's tannins are very fine-grained, giving it an overall supple texture. Solid in the middle and long on the finish, this is classic-quality Cabernet which is likely very early in its drinking phase. Drink now-2035.
Youthful purple tinged deep red, center black, with lightening at the meniscus. Open nose of cassis, blackberries, barest hint of brett which added complexity, some wonderful blackberry liqueur VA notes. Rich and complete on the palate, with a medium length finish. Seemed to become a bit closed and monolithic after 45 minutes. Brilliant, with a long future.
