  • A blend of Mauzac, Loin de l'Oeil and Ondenc. Aged for a year in oak barrels. 12,5% alcohol.

Neon yellow-green color that reminds me of Mountain Dew. Sweet and concentrated yet pretty fresh nose with intense aromas of lemon and orange marmalade, fresh pineapple, some perfumed floral tones, a little bit of saline ocean air, light stony mineral notes, a hint of beeswax and a touch of exotic spice. The wine is sweet, round and quite mellow on the palate with pure, rich flavors of overripe pineapple, beeswax, some canned peaches, a little bit of orange marmalade, light apple jam tones, a hint of rough stony minerality and a hint of star fruit. The wine is surprisingly light, un-concentrated and not at all sticky for a sweet wine. The acidity feels medium to moderately high. The finish is sweet, soft and quite short with mellow flavors of lemon marmalade, some arancini (dried and candied orange zest), a little bit of honey, a hint of overripe apple and a touch of cantaloupe.

A decent and pleasant, but also somewhat unsurprising sweet wine that reminds me more of quite sweet white wine than a classic, through-and-through dessert wine. It is enjoyable both on its own and with a wide variety of different cheeses and savory desserts, but it isn't particularly complex or distinctive in style. I doubt aging will grant much additional complexity to the wine, but most likely the wine will keep good for some years more. Drink or keep.
