Agree with previous notes. I think I waited too long. Dark red, almost brown color. No nose other than a bit of an astringency. The palate was completely flat without any noticeable fruit as if the wine were corked. No secondary notes could break through the harshness of the palate. After an hour in the decanter, some sweet fruit emerged, but still there was a backbone of astringency.
Medium colour depth, garnet to brick. Aromas of cigar / tobacco, anis / licorice with hints of strawberry. Medium dry medium bodied, balanced and nice in the mouth with distinct aftertaste of licorice. Moderately tannic - drinking quite well now. Nice wine.
