Two hour decant. Opaque, thick purple garnet pour into the decanter. Massive sweet nose of rich black cherry and crème de cassis. A bit unctuous and sweet with a cola core but there is a savoury black cherry exit to this wine. Tannins and acid provide lift. Old world meets new world. Excellent with confit duck wings.

Only one bottle of this vintage in the cellar.....pnp to a little hint of barnyard and mushrooms. One hour in and it's mostly gone. Classic lead pencil and violets on the nose, dark, dark color on the glass with just a hint of a dark ruby meniscus. Excellent weight in the mouth, black fruit, drying tannins and moderate acidity straight thru it from beginning to end. This is in a nice early drinking window but certainly has many, many years ahead of it, if you so choose. Bordering on a 96 for me and if the rest of the bottle lasts another hour, it should easily reach that. Not for the true Cali fruit bomb drinker, this has elegance and class and more than a tad of BDX behind it.
Addendum: this bottle seemed to peak at 2+ hours at 96, hours 3-4 saw it turn a touch thinner in the mouth with slightly redder and slightly tart in fruit, I'd say it finished up at 93-94.

Was surprised by how tough the wine was. Overall balance was solid I thought. It needs more time imo.

Not my style of wine. Just didn’t have much to it. Checked it off the list.
