  • I'm always amazed at how long lived these old Charles Krug wines can be. I didn't expect too much of this bottle with a high shoulder fill.

Color is garnet to brick at the rim. Nose was initially non-existent but after half an hour emerged with tea, earth and dried flowers. Surprisingly lively on the palate with good length and a smooth, crisp finish. Quite light bodied compared to today's cabs. Flavors of pomegranate, cherry and berry are surprisingly pure and clean.

Altogether a very pleasant drink for a 43 year old mid shelf cab (this was the regular bottling, not the Vintage Selection) from a not great vintage.

  • Dead and oxidized. Shame.
