At Monopole Wine for my 50th: Pale ruby-garnet with amber tones; this had sweet macerated cherry, slight molasses, dried and crushed pot-pouri, light perfume; old soft leather with hint of dried soy sauce. Palate was silky, elegant, slight old sour cherry, but opened up and actually got better, with slight sweet tones near the end with a good dose of very fine sediment. This was past its prime, a bad vintage, but nevertheless left very nice treasures (perfume/sweet old cherry/silky mouthfeel) to uncover if you gave it a chance. Enjoyed this very much, but clearly not a great La Tache. Even if this was my first one! 91-92
