  First vintage of the Newton Merlot: Brick color. Sweet berries, mint and leather in the nose. Still some fruit left, nice complexity and superb balance. Tasted blind next to Cheval Blanc 1979 and I must say the Newton outperformed the Cheval by a big margin...
  
  Now fully mature but well stored bottles still have a few more years reserves...
