Started off a little earthy, but opened up well and combated a steak dinner with ease. The format was a double magnum and the 10 people that tried the wine all enjoyed it. In fact, several were disappointed when the bottle ran dry.

Del Dotto Barrels & Beasts 2017 (Saint Helena): Same as last year. Tasted at the bar. This had medium concentration and depth; average display of core fruit. Decent frame, but fell off a bit on the back end. The 2014 version was a little more interesting (though a touch sweeter).

More delineated in its flavor profile than "The David." The Cabernet aspects showed through decently, with some dark red and black berry, red currant, and cedar notes.
Still a little flat and simple mid-palate, lacking some layered complexities. A mellow, less powerful type of Cabernet from the otherwise intense 2013 vintage. A drink-now kind of Cab.
