Notes of black currants, herbs and dark, fruit. Really nice dark berry fruit on the palate with medium tannins and a nice finish. Sadly, it has no sense of place- this could be a nice Cab blend from just about anywhere.
Wow! The pedigree is here. Only my second 2005 to try thus far. 375ml bottle. Bright red ruby colour. On the nose, tar, minerality, rocks.. Reminds me of a mid aged napa cab sav but with more secondary flavours. On the palette, medium rich red mighty 2005 fruit. The tannins are still grippy but not annoying at all. The finish is very smooth and polished.
What I'm enjoying the most is the quality of this wine producer. Even though it easily has many years, you know the quality is here! Even popping out the cork was so tight. The pop sound was loud. I can imagine this would be a Mission Haut Brion in a classic year. I appreciate it's high ranking in Bordeaux.
The nose is a clear display of a classy estate, high toned fruit, graphite, spice box and shells...cool-polished black raspberries, pencil shavings, crisp acids, generous minerality, saline notes, tannins are still a bit tight on the finish, would never guess '05 vintage... very enjoyable 90-92

(La Chapelle de La Mission Haut-Brion Pessac-Léognan) CS 94%, CF 6%. A glossy appearance, right out to the rim of raspberry red. A delightful nose, vibrant with blackcurrant and blackberry fruit, then traces of raspberry and toffee, notes of buttery oak, smoke and liquorice. Very pure and expressive in character. Clean, light on entry, elegant, but then quite broad and stylish on the midpalate. Appealing, composed and harmonious, quite concentrated though, with a nice grippy depth, with some fine tannins layered beneath it all. Very impressive second wine.
