  • Drinking great right now. Tannins have mellowed. The fruit is fresh and vibrant. Many years left for this wine to mature, but if you like fruit over earthy flavors, now is a good time to open a bottle.

  • PNP nose of wood and graphite. Prevalent fruit that mellows a bit in the glass. Nicely balanced. In a place of evolution between youthful primary and initial secondary. Very enjoyable now with a decade + in the tank of you so desire.

  • Brought to a restaurant; cork disintegrated; waitstaff filtered before decanting. A luscious Bordeaux, richly feminine, layers of flavor, and an invitation to contemplate each sip. Could it improve with time? Maybe, but it is drinking beautifully now. Went well with the other diners' veggie-ish meals, and paired perfectly with my strip steak, grilled red onion and whipped potatoes.

  • Wow, don't trust the user's window dates, as this is drinking at its height now and probably has some years of further development before going downhill. Was great at the pop of the cork, now on second day it is showing cassis, cherry, even a little bright ripe strawberry. It has a brightness, yet a solid umami meatiness that would go well with a braised meat dish. Dauzac is one of those under the radar values that (in the right vintage, of which 2005 obviously was one) gives wines at 5x the price a run for their money.

  • Decanted for slight sediment. Lovely aromatics. Blackberry, cassis, some plum. Forest floor, tobacco. Silky mouthfeel, chewy tannins. This is still developing, but delicious with just a bit of air.
