Recently rated by Parker 97 points so expectations were high. Very dark and rich. Blueberry syrup but not jammy at all. Mocha notes as well. Sweet and ripe but not in an over the top way. Soft tannins. Opulent wine. It's still pretty primary and I think will continue to develop despite the already soft structure. Not a style everyone enjoys but I liked it.
Oaky bouquet that immediately put my mind to the 2003 Ducru-Beaucalliou. The palate does not show nearly as much oak as the bouquet. It is remarkably refined, and features pencil lead, gravel, peppers (green and jalapeno), and blackcurrant. Great acid, light to medium acid, wonderfully balanced. Soft, layered and rounded mouthfeel, in a word, sophisticated. Long and charming finish. Drinking incredibly well right now, and it should hold for five to seven years from now, but I cannot see it improving. 93-94.
