WCC 2004 California Cab Blind Tasting (Fort Orange Club, Albany, NY): [Double decanted all at 1:00 PM, recorked at 5:00 PM.] Rich black cherry nose. Long, complex, elegant. Again, not 100% Cab, but not as balanced as 2.1. [After the tasting, we realized that this was the Merlot, and not the 2004 Pahlmeyer Proprietary Red. At least I was correct when I wrote, "not 100% Cab".]

From a magnum ( signed by Jason, which didn’t change flavor:) )
Decanted into aerating ships decanter, delicious the whole night Deep color with no bricking, or fading flavors. Blue and red fruits with a lovely aroma. Was the highlight of the nights offerings.

One-hour decant. Wine provided aroma of blackberries during decant. In the glass, wine was clear; no sediment. Still an almost opaque purple from bowl to rim with no signs of bricking. Nose of prunes, plums, blackberries, and some greenery. In the mouth, fruit was deep, balance a little soft (but not remotely flabby) and a sweet conserve of the aforementioned black fruits, with a touch of herbs and ouzo on the fairly-long finish. Was impressive and delicious. Sad I only have one more.

Drinking perfectly now - no decant needed. Black fruits, fully integrated tannins and everything in balance. Medium but persistent finish. Yum!!
