2005 vintage was perfect one in St.Emilion. 99 pts. according WA Vintage Guide and it means that wines are still tannic, youthful and slow to mature. But I didn't expect that this particular wine, after 17 years is so tannic and youthful! An hour in decanter, 2 sip and wine ended up in decanter again, this time for 80 minutes (now I know it could sit there much longer) Anyway the wine is big and heavy. I mean in taste, because smell is finesse and delicate. Flowers, forest, red fruits, hint of tobacco, coffee Taste is completely different 'animal'. A load of black coffee, black chocolate and ... minerals! It's a weird mix for sure! What else is squeezed between? Red cherry, red currant. And oak ( no good!). Dry tannins at finish with spice. Acidity fortunately fresh and juicy. Wine with a lot of potential, but a little bit out of balance now. According back label description the wine is made of 75% M, 20 CF and 5% CS. So much CF makes this juice so powerful
I think 🤔😎
One more thing - reasonable 13.5% ABV

Give it a few hours to open up. Then, leather, oak, earth, with a ribbon of what I think of as herbs (fennel maybe) running through the whole thing. I didn't get much in the way of layers you would expect in a great Bordeaux, but hey, its a good wine. Drink up I would think, seems like this is only headed down hill.

85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc. It’s located close to Pomerol not far from Cheval Blanc, which also means that it’s closer to Fronsac than most other parts of St. Emilion. Sand, gravel, clay and iron soils. This is now owned by one of the owners of Lynch Bages in Pauillac, but in 2005 it had different ownership.
Much more advanced than last time I had this wine 5+ years ago. Aged nose of mushroom, leather, dried fruit and spice. The palate initially had a youthful streak of acid but after that it was super silky with notes resembling the nose more. This is at a 'drink now' stage although this bottle was at room temperature for about a year at some stage a few years ago, so maybe your well-stored bottle is less advanced.

Smart, sleek wine. Cool right bank aromatics. Still very lively.
