Decanted for an hour; should have given it two. Restrained cab fruit and round tannins to start. Much richer palate and nose 30-60 minutes later. Excellent Napa cab that's ready now and will hold for at least another 3-5 years.

Big Napa Cabernet still evolving 2004 Ramey Cabernet Sauvignon Larkmead Vineyard (gift from friend's estate). Darkest purple, viscous (15.0 alc.); black fruit nose; herbaceous, ripe grape, oak, cedar, cassis; dry; big acids, tannins; full body; pronounced black fruit and wood on the palate; long hot chewy finish. w/BBQ beef. 17 UC Davis scale, 92 other scales.

Opened 4 hours ahead. Nice aromatics of licorice, cassis and a touch of earth. Medium plus body, black fruits and some secondary notes of tobacco, licorice and earth. Still plenty of life, maybe losing a bit of fruit and gaining secondary notes. Bottle 7 of 8. 93 points.

Drank over 3 days. I find some Ramey wines to be overly fruity and sometimes too sweet to enjoy. This wine has just enough fruit. Has well integrated tannins but held up well over the 3 day period without losing its structure or fruit. So I think this can drink well for at least few years. Surprisingly little sediment vs. other mature Rameys I had in the past. Worth the price I paid (~$50).
