  • There are moments when I really kick myself for not going with my gut feeling. I snagged 6 bottles for $22 at winebid.com and I wish I had bought a full case while it was still possible. This wine really does show the generosity and depth of a great vintage. Opened last night to pair with sushi and this matched the diversity of flavors from umami in the shiitake maki to the intensity of the wasabi this wine seemed to pair well with everything we ordered. Last night while this was tighter and more focused, notes of green apple, lime, and chalk were present. Tonight with the last 1/4 of the bottle there's a depth and breadth to this that has shifted to notes of yellow delicious apple, lightly buttered yeast rolls, pear, and a lingering note of kiwi on the medium length finish. Outstanding! I should have bought more...

  • Drank over two nights; first night this shows very one dimensionally with sour green apple and quite malic in quality- almost with an apple cider vinegar edge so I closed it up and revisited the next day- much better showing more almond and golden apple in a friendlier less piercing acid feel, yeast is caressing, bubbles are still persistent; will give this some time in the cellar to settle.

  • Straw, clear in glass. A: very toasty, nutty, some mineral notes, not much in the way of fruit aromas. F: moderately rich and leesy, green apple, lemon, and almond. Medium plus to High acid, moderate length. Fine mousse.

Second day saw some stone fruits coming out and a lessening of the prickly nature of the acid. Feels very wound up in general, will be fun to enjoy over the years. Seems to match the description of the vintage (and the few 2008s that I've been able to taste).

  • What I enjoyed about this bottle was the balance I perceived. It seemed built well, gentle and while not overly complex, for vintage bubbly from 08, and 40 bucks US, drinking great now and a good value.
