Past it’s prime at 19. Medium red with brown cast as would be expected for the age. A medium body red blend with a dank overtone. Low tannins, surprisingly firm acidity.

Didn't want anything fancy tonight....just something simple and good - this fit the bill. Only 14.1% alcohol. Not oaky. Still extremely fruity (almost artificially so). It was like drinking carmalized plums with some licorice and pepper. Smooth drinking, no harshness.

Opened with no decant, surprisingly lighter in color than what I come to expect of a Bdx blend, reminded me more of a pinot, clear ruby red. Initial hints of a bitt of Brett, but seems to be blowing off to reveal red fruits, licorice, touch of mint, and a hard to place vegetal element. Palate is a bit acidic, the fruit is bright but a bit short. Bing Cherry, cedar, mint, tobacco. Says it was 20 months in oak, but it isn't obtrusive so likely was mix of old and new barrels. Don't think this will get much better with age, but will revise if following glasses/night tasting differs. 50+4+10+13+7=84

(Cougar Crest Winery Anniversary Cuvee Walla Walla Valley) Looks a bit more aged than I would expect for its six years. The nose is initially all over the place with cooked tomatoes, popcorn, and fresh berries. After time, it settles down to a classic Cougar Crest nose of spice, chocolate shavings, bright cherries, and earth. Sweet, rich, and palate coating with just a touch of tartness. Lots of oak aromas and tastes although it largely works. 60% Cabernet, 37% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot. Cougar Hills Estate Vineyards. 573 cases produced.

Similar to my last note. Nothing complex, but very drinkable.

I was expecting a little more. This is very fruit forward, but not a lot of depth. There was a little too much sweetness on the finish.
