John's 70th B-Day Blowout (Sandy Springs, GA): Mine; light garnet deep maroon core with lighter rim; fig, classic, no mistaking this one, raspberry, very solid, liquor soaked cherries, light garrigue, some tea; still good structure, stewed cherry and raspberry, herbs de Provence, great balance; so unevolved I was a little disappointed, after reveal it was a revelation but before it almost seemed pedestrian; hate to say it but the bottle we had needed more time, others guessed 2005.
Limpid garnet (burgundian); truffle, liquorice and herbs with an underlay of dark fruits and far background of treacle; medium bodied but smooth and rich (alcoholic?) body; long and dry finish. Classy, seamless.
