Restaurant purchase, $70 at The Refectory in Durham. A solid Barolo for dining out, did not take long to open up and wasn't overly extracted, alcoholic, or tannic for 2009. Red cherries, anise, some forest floor, and earthy tannic structure; not much by the way of other Barolo characteristics like floral or tarry notes. Overall B+ for a restaurant bottle at this price but feel like this would be a great deal in the $50 - $60 range.

Nice wine. Needed a few hours decant to open up, but did so nicely. Tame tannins complemented with dark cherry.
