The big barrel on the label caugh my attention. Kept on premise, it holds 22, 000 litres! Ok, I will bite. On the nose: black currant, perfumed plum, tar, mocha, and cigar smoke ... but not as big as advertised, but nice all the same.
The taste is a nice balance of sweet & savoury with the black currant and plum supported by medium acidity and a touch of fine rounded tannin.
Quite a nice value, and an excellent pairing with a smoked meat sandwich! Just try it.

An intriguing red blend dominated by Petit Verdot, this wine presents a delicious combo of ripe red fruits with earth, smoke, and tobacco notes. The tannins and acid were well in check allowing for a pleasant, smooth mouthfeel. Though not overly complex, the palate was both refreshing and full at the same time. Typical of a lot of South African reds, there was a notable sense of having just smoked a tasty cigar - though not so much that it overwhelmed the rest of the flavours. At under $20, this wine represents excellent value and provides a perfect summer BBQ sipper (....gulper).

Good strong blend. Start is tart dryness. Finish cleansing dryness. Cigar tones. Not a goto wine. More of a occasional detour.
