  • No decant. Brownish ruby, bricking out to blood-orange at the edge. Nicely complex nose of carbon, strawberries, earth, but a bit of VA mars the proceedings. Light-bodied and a bit tart on the palate; this wine seems to have thinned out with age. Cherry flavors and smoky oak. Finishes with orange peel, zero tannins, some acid grip. A nice wine, very interesting to drink. Is it great? It's not all that I had hoped for. I think it's a little past its peak. It has wonderful characteristics, but these are fleeting in the glass. Executive summary: This once-excellent wine is teetering.

  • Still hot, heavy alcohol extraction...

  • Huge nose on opening. Menthol, mint, bay leaf, red berry and honey -- beautiful! Good first impression, bay oak cherry strawberry and nice tannen. After decanting: more earth and coffee now with black fruit and a *really* lovely full transition -- the transition is, actually, truly exceptional. The only flaw is a touch of cough syrup on the nose and some of that same coating mouthfeel. But the lovely Gary's vineyard sour blueberry finish is there. Over time the menthol went away and I got more coco, chocolate, star anise, and sour black fruit. Not quite as good as the 2005 version of this same wine (despite the fact that this is much older) but still a lovely bottle.

  • Decanted, much better than last bottle...alcohol under control, better integrated. Lovely fruit forward pinot, major extraction deep color

  • I thought this wine was very nicely balanced and the fruit was still there. Still gives you the taste of a big PN.....Not thin at all....If you don't like it your wife will .. ......Drank it with a friend who does not drinking red wine too much and enjoyed it. Wished she could of stayed for more.
