A very solid wine and one of the first young Lafarge I have had that is not completely backwards. Served blind from decanter and thought this was CdN. Very elegant and not nearly as rustic as I was expecting. Splendid.

Off the list at Thasos FLL. Singing on pop n' pour. Beautiful aromas of red cherry, florals, earth and mineral. The palate has velvety fruit with floral and earth complexities. Early peak window but already deliciously approachable in this vintage.

Just classic Volnay, impeccably made, and highlighting why 2014 is an underrated vintage. If you're looking for rich, large-scaled Pinot/Burgundy, look away. Red berries galore, leafiness, spices and a very clear sense of soil/terroir. This is as old-school and grand as they come.

Burgundy - with or without stems? (Zoom!): Entirely destemmed. Darker in colour. My immediate reaction to this was to think "Proper Burgundy!" - lots of flavour married to even more elegance. Impeccable balance, bitter cherry flavour, a gorgeous red apple finish, and finely woven mouth-coating tannins. This tasted ready to enjoy at first and I might have given it a higher score, but it then closed down a bit with air. My and the group's #2.

PNP into Riedel Big O glass (“Root” day): Pale purplish ruby to the eyes.
Bright red cherry fruits, florals, herbal and leafy notes.
Very nicely assessable in a classic style.
93-94 points.
