Light ruby color with minimal bricking - appears unfiltered Medium aromas of tart red fruit and slight herbal/dusty qualities Beautiful palate but light on its feet - tastes of ripe red and black cherry Medium plus acidity and medium tannins - completely integrated Somewhat short finish Very enjoyable wine, quite light as noted Reminds one of a Villages Burgundy from a great producer

Reminds me a bit of cool climate cab franc with bell pepper, cracked black pepper, and stewed tomato. M to M- tannin, M acid, M body, M or even M+ concentration. Feels like it didn’t want to be a big ripe wine but couldn’t quite commit to being rustic or lighter in style; I think I’d prefer a little less concentration and body and a little more acid. Also doesn’t feel as unique or interesting in character as some other Mencía, I’m not sure I’d have guessed the varietal blind. I like but don’t love it. 5.7/10

Mencia & Rabbit Stew Dinner (Mukilteo, Washington): It had a vibrant, earthy bouquet of raspberry, cherry, barnyard, mocha and spice aromas. The palate was sharp and somewhat bitter with flavors of cherry, mocha and spice. The group’s average score was 90.00.

A piercing and gripping red wine from Galicia. Interesting, precise, tangy, and showing more than a little verve. Substantive mouthfeel and finish.
