Staggeringly great, sweet fruit and totally resolved tannins. Deep brown bricking but the wine is so alive. A lovely burnt aroma emerged at the end a la a great Brulees. So many great wines served today, and this was a standout among tough competition.

Holiday Burgundy Lunch (Scottsdale, AZ): Served blind. GORGEOUS floral aroma, combined with the freshest and most lovely earth. The way this wine incorporated earthiness while not sacrificing a whit of purity was extraordinary. There is a touch of soy on top of a palate of sweet red fruit, and ample mineral underneath. If there's any knock against this beauty, it may be the length of finish not quite as grand as the soaring aromatics and beguiling palate. I love love love this wine.

Drunk at Epure Hong Kong - From a bottle with extremely low ullage. Therefore, sadly oxidised to such a degree from which it couldn't recover. I couldn't help feeling there was a good wine in there somewhere.

Twenty Eight Vintages of Roumier Bonnes Mares: Although showing its age, the 71 was delicious and with some time and air really became quite seductive.

most amazing nose of roses and much finesse. A more feminine, elegant wine than I expected - just a bit short.
