This was wonderful even if not supposed to be a great year. Lighter weight style, tannins gone, still a hint of cherry fruit but most of the flavors were at the earthy, chocolate, smoke, and herbal end. Good stuff.

Light, and still kind of tough. Good color, but the fruit lacks vibrancy and the nose is fairly simple. It's clearly good but I thought I would be more impressed.

Cornas (28-50, London): Slightly rubbery element to the nose. Very stripped on the attack. Grippy. Think this is just dried out rather than corked, but possibly both. ** at best.

Tasting Group Dinner - Miscellaneous (Heidi's, Minneapolis): Deep, dark, plummy, intense nose. Fully resolved tannins. The palate is thinning out just a touch, showing mostly tertiary tobacco/leafy flavors and mellow fruit. The finish turns a bit short, especially with extended air time. Fun but, to my palate, a bit past its prime.

Another Wednesday at Heidi's: The nose is very expressive featuring dark fruit, iron/mineral, earth and tobacco. On the palate this is very impressive, with fully resolved tannin, good acidity, and great length. Nothing to complain about here. Awesome stuff holding up very well.
