Med to med deep ruby w slight hints of age - plum, mint, some herbs on nose - v savoury palate, nice complexity- good fruit too, but it is more in the background - tannins are still a bit firm - nice plum/mint finish - works v well with a grilled steak. On night two, it was smoother, but a bit tired.
Nose of cherry liquer and dark chocolate. Nice, oily bricking - with cloudy ruby coloring predominant. Some dry, dusty tannins stand out in the fore - as does the hint of heat on the finish. In between I'm treated to a rustic vegetal effort, mildly void of fruit although still rather enjoyable. While I was expecting a smidge more fun here, I can't complain with this particular offering.
Dinner in Seattle (Bin on the Lake - Kirkland, WA): Bright red fruit on the nose gave this a pretty modern feel to it. Palate was not overly dense, but did feature ripe red berries, some cedar, pipe tobacco and subtle meat. Wasn't overly complex, but had nice minerality on the finish.
