The nose screams Nebbiolo: dark cherries, pine tar, roses, and herbs. Weightless intensity on the palate, dark red fruit, bright acidity, and just a touch of grip from the silky tannins. A textbook example of everything I look for in mature Barolo.

From magnum. Wow! Gorgeous nose with classic notes of roses, tar, cherries, and strawberries. Good acidity and still quite structured (much more so than the 2000 next to it), lovely fruit, and cherry notes. Very long finish. Outstanding wine that still feels on the upswing, especially from magnum. Amazing experience!

96 for the 96! This was money, totally delivered in every way.
BUT it took 6 hours decant time after being opened the night before to get there. After the 4 hour mark it was so so, nice but maybe 92 points. It really revealed itself then. I kept telling my wife after 4 hours to just wait its still holding back. And sure enough 2 hours later, shazam.
Lots of violet and persimmons on the pallet. Freaky.
Saved a glass for next day. My guess it will be better.

Out of magnum this is my wine of the night with a White Alba Truffle dinner tonight as it sings a song of completion and resolve over any other bottle on the table which included iconic wine from piedmont

(Bruno Giacosa Barolo Riserva Falletto di Serralunga d'Alba) Tight, cherry and tangy red fruit nose; rich, full, rounded palate with tart red fruit, oak, tangy and with good acidity; medium finish 92+ pts. (most votes for WOTF)

White Alba truffle dinner at Park Place: From magnum. Rich, fruity, dense, balanced with solid acidity. A mix of red and darker fruits. I liked this.
