  • PnP. Made similarly as the West Block, but this East is volcanic soil. 20% new French oak. Fruit forward like the Willamette in a warm year, mellowed by a touch of rust from age. Balanced acidity and a bit of tannins, lots of complexity. Touch of rose perfume. My favorite of the Alexana (and even the Revana) lines.

  • Same as earlier this year.

This is a nice representation of Oregon Pinot with dusty red cherry, earthy elements and well balanced.

The volcanic soils may be an acquired taste for some but it rings all the bells here.

  • Might be a little better than the rating I gave it. A very good experience. Lots of fruit flavors going on. It stood up well to spicily prepared seafood. Would expect this one to improve over time.

  • Revana Harvest Party (Saint Helena): Both the East and West Blocks of this wine tasted almost identical to me. Notes of black cherry, wet mulch, earth, tobacco leaf, and some green/black peppercorn. Fairly reserved for my taste, with a thinner mid-palate delivery than I would hope for. Somewhat indicative of the terroir, this Pinot is by no means bombastic in its flavor profile. A little too damp and earthy on the back end. Much better with food. 87-89 points.

  • PnP and tasted over several hours.

Darker purple for a Pinot with good clarity. Beautiful nose of baked cherry, damp earth and slight oak spices.

On the palate the East Block is Medium++ in body so this will stand tall with richer foods. Somewhat closed but the red cherry, strawberry and damp earth comes though. May need more time in the cellar and even an hour + decant.

Great wine with great potential over the next several years. Alexana continues to impress.

On to the West Block of the same vintage.
