  • Decanted for about an hour. Drinking well now but very curious to see how this ages. As much as I love the more typical Syrah style in this region (and from this producer), this wine made me wonder whether there is some overextraction going on that might be covering up some interesting stuff. As the other tasting notes indicate, this is not your typical inky, dark, tannic young SRH Syrah. It's lighter, elegant, and reveals some wonderful, minerally terroir notes. I want to try it again with less spicy food, since the pairing I had (hummus/tabouli and Aleppo pepper chicken) was probably not quite right for this. Grilled or roasted lamb next time!!

  • LIGHTER THAN ANTICIPATED. CHERRIES AND A TOUCH OF LICORICE AND EARTHINESS IN THE NOSE. CHERRIES AND RASPBERRIES IN THE FLAVOR. ALMOST PINOT NOIR LIKE, MEDIUM LENGTH FINISH.

  • Opened this one a little too soon. That said, it was still quite good, and should be excellent in at least another year or two...wouldn't open it any sooner. Glad we have two more bottles (them again, that's the only reason we opened it when we did)! Lots of black fruit and a little peppery. Tannins were relatively mild.
