  • You can’t help to step into a Time Machine while handling this bottle. What band was most popular in 1964? Who was president? What was in style?
Then the first pour of this beautiful tawny into a well chosen glass most deserving to display this masterpiece of age. Nose to the glass almost brings tears to my eyes as I recall maroon colored curtains and seat cushions of one particular restaurant in the 80’s that, not unlike this port has taken on character depth that tells a story of the gentlemen who have sat in their seats with cigar and pipe tobacco in hand with the smooth, sweet brandy and a story or two..all woven into this fabric.
Anticipation is almost gitty as the first sip of this candied bronze aroma hits the pallet. Warm, humid British Columbia air, snifter and good friendship to share this moment.
Cigar box, sweet pipe tobacco velvet curtains, dried apricot, caramel strike like a warm hug from grandma; the comforting scent reminiscent. Texture not unlike a silky cloud followed with gentle fig and the second wave of warmth from a modest bump of fortified wine.
I nearly tear up from this memory of 2018, still very fresh in my mind.

  • This was a gift from my brother. I have been experiencing this beauty for last 8 years via coravin and sharing with friends and family. This weekend, this bottle came to its demise. Its dark amber color illustrates its maturity. Elegant nose, with significant perfume. Candied raisin and figs. Sweet caramel deep, salty and intense. In fact this would have been really great with figs, but the season is over. Really loved this. While I have had better, this is pretty great.

    Tasted non blind.

Amber color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of caramel, crushed almonds and honeysuckle. Flavors of honey, nuts, maple and mixed berries. Medium to bright acidity, full bodied. Drink or hold. Likely could use some air after opening.
