Pronounced nose intensity with truffle, mushroom, red fruits, flora. Very aromatic on nose and balanced on the palate. Medium+ acidity and high tannin.

At Manzanita/Northstar. I have to admit I was surprised how good this bottle was. I was expecting delicate florals and good depth, since 2012 has been a bit inconsistent for me in Piemonte. Good often, but great rarely. This bottle was great. Decanted for about an hour, the nose did not emerge, it erupted. Rose bouquets, herbal red raspberries and strawberries, hints of earth tones. No tar, sorry purists. The palate was mid-weight or lighter, but was deep, engaging, refreshing. Primarily about fruit, but was long, satisfying, and still showing some tannins. Lovely balance. Excellent complement to bison tomahawk steak with red wine demi-glace. Neither were over powering but both together were harmonious. A joyous bottle for sure.

This is really nice stuff; first time trying the Burlotto Monvigliero and despite '12 being a weaker vintage this is really good. The nose is red fruited and floral with some mint and orange peel; develops more tobacco and forest floor notes with air. Certainly a delicate and feminine style, but that suits this vintage well and I quite love this style of Barolo. Drinking well now, but no rush as it seems to have the balance to age for at least another 5-10.

The first whiff screams passion fruit lol, we all agreed but came as a surprise. Orange peel and got a lot of tension between the acid and body, which I associate with a really good Burgundian maker in the vein of Cathiard. Some Italian herbs and wild roses. Fine on the palate, and good finish. This was mighty impressive and showing quite well right now.

Smooth, open and subtle. Red fruit, oranges, olives. Fully integrated. Great balance. Open and easy. Great today.
