  • Perfect cork, just a dark rim at the bottom, very youthful dark garnet color; the nose is beautiful, with light cedar, leather, then gorgeous dark, meaty fruit, some background oak, deep black currant, hints of roasted mushroom and creosote, good acidity, just perceptible fine tannins. Medium-full body, classy, elegant, still on its upslope nowhere near peak but drinking wonderfully. So sad they don't make wine like this any more.

Finished the bottle the next day, and it was essentially unchanged, held up beautifully just recorked on the counter.

  • This needs a ton more btl age. Youthfully primary and some oak. Enjoyable to be sure but if you've had this wine at 20 years plus its amazing.

  • A Mostly Grand Cru French Night at Heirloom (Heirloom, St.Paul, MN): Very dark/purple red color. Decanted for 3 hours, drank 1 glass over 45 minutes. Nice bright fruits, cassis, dark raspberry, pencil, earth, herbs and funky interesting note I can't quite put my hand on. The palate is full bodied, earthy, a slight green edge, cassis, black cherry, very nicely integrating tannins. A very good Cos. 92+pts.

  • Aromas of blackberry and rasberry are met on the palate with firm tannins and hints of tobacco. This is very typically left bank with big bold steely flavours. My only reservation is that it does seem to have closed down slightly compared to 6 months ago, but maybe just a little more air is needed.

  • (A l'aveugle)
