Cellartracker in the flesh with Stefan and Akiko (L'Effervescence, Tokyo, Japan): Medium intensity aromas of red cherry, berry and plum. Very slight biscuit and leather notes with cream and spices as well. In the mouth the wine has medium plus acidity with flavours of cherry over plum. The wine is quite savoury and slightly chewy tannin encroaches on the juicy medium plus length finish with cherry and leather notes persisting. Nice.
Ruby red. Nose is filled with both red and dark fruits, coffee notes and wet leaves in the fall. M+++ tannins that mellowed over the evening. M++ acids that speak italian. Fabulous concentration and good length. Not complex. Not layered. Rustic and a great example of such wines. Would work well with anchovie-garlic pizza today. Looking forward to what is in the final btl some 10 years from now. Hopefully a scarred and seasoned warrior with fabulous stories to tell! Wife: 90p With Chatters at fantastic L'Effervescence (Tokyo).
