Funky and alcoholic upon opening, but after 1 hr decanting, it blossomed and was surprisingly good for a 98 from the Medoc. Lots of earth, leather, forest floor with just enough fruit to be interesting. Medium bodied with a slightly short finish.
Beautiful and expressive bouquet with at first a bit of barnyard which blows off, plums, tobacco, sweet spices and beautiful oak. On the palate a somewhat sweet start, vanilla, some earthiness, mushrooms and chocolate. Pleasant acidity soft bitterness and beautifully melted and soft tannin. The wine is completely ready now. No real hurry, but it will not improve anymore.
