Brought this to Burlamacco Ristorante (East Coast) for dinner to celebrate a birthday with my army buddies.
Decanted for 2 hours prior to serving. Rich ripe berries and plums on the nose, then gave way to tobacco, black coffee, cocoa, dried herbs and a touch of black spices.
Very well balanced and well made. Good finesse and finish. This wine really showed the wine making skills of the Sassicaia team.

Beautiful ruby/ brick in color with a wide brick rim.
On the nose red fruits with light oak, licorice, spices, tobacco leaf, herbs, coffee, dark chocolates, light vegetables, wet leaves and light vinaigrette.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with cherries, raspberries, tobacco leaf, dark coffee, dark chocolates, earth, wet leaves, herbs, black pepper, light vegetables and spices.
Medium finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 9 year old Super Tuscan is drinking beautifully now. Elegant and complex with a soft mouthfeel.
This is not Sassicaia, its older brother, but very enjoyable nonetheless. Nicely balanced, rich and elegant.
Showing lots of sweet red fruits with earth notes to balance them out.
Feels more like a Brunelo di Montalcino, and feels much older than it is. Might be the way it was stored.
Wine Spectator 92 points.
Good by itself or with food. I paired with light appetizers.
A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot.
12.5% alcohol by volume.
91 points.
$60.
