Same bottle. Very perfumed nose - rancio and nuts with that marzipan and spicy note I get with Tinta Negra. The palate is potent and spicy and exotic and lush. long spicy finish.

Just so outrageously nutty, and with that the perfect amount of toast; it amazes me that something made of grapes can taste more of toasted nuts than something actually made of nuts ever could. Piquant on the finish, leaving one promptly reaching for another sip despite the wine's intensity.

This has been open for a number of months now. Big and rough on the nose w- spicy, wood, dark sweetness - something between molasses and maple syrup? Palate is similar - to me this seems rough and blunt and not very complex with some heat sticking out. It was like this when I opened it but I hoped it would blossom. So far no luck :(

Beautiful presentation box, 50cl bottle, stopper cork, recent release. I am told that the 1954 vintage is the base of this wine. The complexity, elegance and concentration of this wine are of the highest order. Magnificent balsamic, salty, woody depths, hints of vanilla sweetness and white nuts, juicy candied fruit, apricot and spices, medium sweetness, tangy acidity, layered finish with outstanding resonance and length.
Tasted at Henriques & Henriques. Pretty nose and palate with good intensity. Crisp acidity and long finish. A nice Madeira showing intensity and balance with a lot of complexity. They are very proud of it and it has won many awards. Didn't really grab me though. For what its worth, the wine is mostly from the 1954 vintage.
