From the golden age of this label, the ‘88 is still in good shape. Blackcurrant fruit with tea leaf, cedar wood and vanilla elements, this St George is delicious. It presents like a ‘98 rather than an ‘88. Very impressive. An easy, long, balanced wine. Perhaps the sweetness is fading? Drink up, but enjoy every moment of this tobacco-like delight.

Better than the 87 we had with this... still a decent colour and retained body. Good on the nose and a very delicious aged wine. Has lasted way beyond its years

Coravin fun - Ivan's oldies (Jo & Ivan's, Marrickville): From Coravin. On the nose it's leathery with tilled earth, cream, sweet spice...with agitation it shows some blackcurrant. It's tart and tannic on the palate. Bit short. hmm. Again, I'm hoping that time in the decanter might get some fruit. But it's quite dried out.
