  • 90+ Wine Club, Aged Santorini wines (The Wine Circus): Bright color, gorgeous in the nose, ethereal, citrus notes, some honey and dried herb notes, a thin spice layer
Palate showing fully developed profile, med body, elevated acidity, mineral, salty, brine, overripe citrus, quince, needs more time, long finish

  • A wine that we shy away as we had our misses in older vintages only to be restored in faith with a beautiful magnum of 2016 ( Papies 93) and we argued over this 2014 but the owner/sommelier of Vintage in Lefkosia pushed for it.
Indeed a wine that has improved but definitely one that is better younger than older. This 2014 was good and polished and with a beautiful feel across but it’s showing its age too and we would argue not to age this more as we felt it’s at peak if not past its peak now. Has a rustic element to it too but overall a great wine and great value. 92-93 drink sooner we feel than later.

  • Medium to deep gold, developed colour. It smells Santorini. Sea salt, crushed rocks, smoke and minerality. Medium (+) alcohol, medium-bodied, bone dry, high acidity. Extremely vibrant, fresh, powerful and mouth washing. Lime, grapefruit, salinity. Long finish. After 8 years it is still young and it will still be great for at least 6-7 more.

  • Prowine Asia 2018 after-party!
Pop and poured. Drank over 2.5 hours and next day (still going solidly strong!).
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, yellow lemon colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, pronounced intensity, with aromas of honey, citrus lemon drops, and the waves of sea-salt minerality come gushing in - non-stop. Developed.
On the palate, dry, lovely balanced high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14%), medium+ body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with flavours of honey, citrus lemon drops, white peach, creamy lees, and intense sea-salt minerality - as though there was seawater in the bottle!
    Very long finish.
Outstanding quality. Best Assyrtiko tasted so far. In the league of Grand Cru white Burg. Drink now why wait!
All stainless steel. Aged on lees for 18 months.
Kavalieros is a single high altitude vineyard situated at the village of Imerovigli in Santorini.

  • Nose of lemons, wet salty rock, a whiff of chamomile and a touch of petrol. Medium+ body, more rounded than a typical assyrtiko from Santorini, almost creamy, (18 months in lees). It will bring out great complexity. Try it after 2020. 93++
