I was so wrong on my prior tasting of this wine. It has come into its own, finally shedding the tannins that very efficiently hid the fruit. The nose of crushed violets and black and blueberry burst out of the glass. The palate is ripe with the blackberry fruit dominant and the acidity is present but supporting. The blueberrry fruit arises after a while.. What a difference 4 years in bottle has made. This is drinking beautifully and should remain excellent for another few years.

Lots of fruit , some backbone , very tasty. Eastern Californian wines tend to have have their own things going on, this wine is no different, in the Favia stable its somewhat unique. From mag.

I think the syrah is my least favorite Favia offering- great cabs and an outstanding Sauv.. Blanc but this is just average- if you want an American syrah this doesn’t hold a candle to saxum, reynvaan, cayuse or Ramey’s Rodgers Creek-all comparatively priced- not to up the ante to SQN or perhaps Andremily. It was a bit better than last try after a two hr decant- I’d just advise you go elsewhere for syrah and elsewhere in the Favia lineup

Savory and tart. A bit closed and really quite tight even on day 2. I plan on letting my last bottle sit for several more years. Med weight.
