From a perfectly stored bottle of impeccable, providence. The fill was quite low and we were a little nervous at first, but this turned out to be amazing. Mushrooms and wet band aids quickly blew off to reveal an array of spices and sweet red fruit. This gained stature over 2+ hours and the nose is impossible to describe. What a special experience!

A gorgeous bottle, much better than the one we had a few weeks ago. Complex aromatics of tea leaf, hoisin and sandalwood. The palate is vinous silk and flavours are sweet and spicy. There's a suggestion of smoked meats and a little tar on the finish.

The aroma is quite nutty and very earthy. In the mouth the wine is lacy and there's still real vinous sweetness. It get sweeter with air and there are the usual La Tache Hoisin and soy notes. It is only just mid-weight but there's still structure and sneaky persistence.

Quite big stemsy, smoky lift to the aroma. There were also the telltale La Tache Hoisin and soy things going on. The palate was only mid-weight, fine and lacy with plenty of sweet earth and a salty iodine flavor. It was a good but not great bottle of ’43 DRC as a ’43 GE we had last year was quite majestic.
