(Château Haut-Brion) Light medium brick red color with pale meniscus; mature, beckoning cassis, cedar and dried berry nose; lovely, elegant, mature but delicious, glimpses and echoes of lush tart berry, blackberry and cassis fruit; medium-plus finish 95+ pts.

Rockss and Fruit

(Chateau Haut Brion) Shows of the opulence of the vintage with it's ripe fruit profile. It was dense, concentrated with great refinement and waves of dense fruit on the palate. Easily the fruitiest wine of the night which was very interesting as the '02 was the most austere of the nigh with the least fruit. Well the '95 . . . but that is a special case.

(Haut-Brion) This was beautiful with great supple texture and a wonderful femininity. Loads of tar, weedy tobacco and delicate cassis fruit with almost fully resolved tannins and a very long finish. This is an '82 that is rarin' to go.

(Château Haut-Brion) Prune, plum and herbal nose; elegant entry, coffee, cherry, very resolved sweet tannins; nice long finish (decanted for 2 hours)

(Château Haut-Brion) 1982 Bordeaux Tasting - 1st Growths & Super Seconds (Los Angeles, California): Rich, spicy, spice box, plum nose; fig, black fruit, rich plum palate with some higher notes and mint showing up toward finish; long finish
