Very good, but not easily identifiable as CdP. Exceptionally fruit-forward, but none of the garrigue and earthy notes that I consider hallmarks of the appellation. Might well be in a dumb phase right now. In any case, perfectly enjoyable, but not what I was expecting, and sometimes that's OK.

Like a few others, and I’m not sure 100% Grenache is a formula for success. Initially this was very “grapey” and alcoholic. Eventually, it came around in the decanter and showed cherry cough drop, wild raspberry, chunky red plum, herbal black tea, wood spice, and new cedar mulch. Structure is framed by chewy tannin, which is a bit unusual for Grenache; acidity and red fruits trying to provide balance. Developing. At eight years, I think this could benefit from some additional time in the cellar. Very good potential, but I wish I’d waited a couple of years on this. Drink through 2030+.

9/11/2023 - ekorn Does not like this wine:
This felt hot and liqueur-y with a very grape-y nose and a palate lacking in finesse. Improved slightly after time in the fridge.
