Consumed over two days from 375mL, this wine is still great. Definite spicy botritys character but still maintains a lightness. Rich mouthweight, apricot and orange aroma/flavor dominates. There is a saline/chlorine addition that others mentioned. Which descriptor you choose depends on how favorable/critical you want to be.
From 375ml. Very similar impression to our last bottle 2.5 years ago, but without any musty component. Showing its age but drinking quite nicely, with the sweet apricot flavors in good balance with spicy, gingery notes.
Deep bright gold, this bottle is consistent with other bottles that I have taste over the last couple of years. The fruit is bright and there is plenty of intensity but there is a distinctive whiff of chlorine - I presume this is a side effect of treatments that must have been deployed due to the damp damp vintage, 1996 Guiraud has a similarly odd bouquet. Yet overall the wine is not unpleasant.
